DEPT. HEALTH & HUMAN SERVICES
Intranet Redesign
With over 13,000 decentralised staff members working in remote locations, often with vulnerable members of society, easy access to information is key for the Department of Health. Their existing intranet was unwieldy and poorly designed, so a replacement was needed.
I worked with a scrum master to initiate a series of 2-week sprints where we utilised Lean UX principles to quickly guide an inexperienced development team towards a better solution.
I led co-design workshops and group sessions with a large number of key stakeholders and employees to uncover user needs, and build empathy across the organisation.
From this I rapidly synthesised the outputs and produced interactive wireframes in Sketch and Invision which were then built and user tested.
A large part of this project was giving the team the skills to take the project forward on their own. To that end, I also mentored other staff members as they took the product through user testing and development.
