Music
Outside of my design work I am also a part-time musician and composer, producing music for media and my own creative projects. I produce original neoclassical/piano music under my own name and electronica as Field Waves, released on the Pretty Decent Music label. I enjoy performing live, especially utilising the new capabilities of live streaming to produce larger-scale solo performances than might be possible in small venue settings.
I have also composed film scores, most recently for Tom Hyde’s short film “Broken Sleep”, as well as for commercial clients and the Ninja Tune production library.
My primary interest lies in finding ways to facilitate musical creativity with new technology, such as machine learning and AI, and how this can be used to generate new and innovative forms of music. I enjoy using technology to find “happy accidents” that lead my compositions into interesting new areas.
