Broken Sleep

In 2016 I scored the short film “Broken Sleep“, directed by Tom Dowuona-Hyde and released on Amazon Prime. It tells the story of a Victorian woman who travels through time whenever she falls asleep, and her struggle to stay awake – and therefore, in time – enough to connect with someone else. I wanted to produce a score with the same ethereal, half-asleep feel as the script, centred around the piano. I used a number of pseudo-generative effects to create an overlay of tense atmospheres in contrast to the gentle, romantic-era piano at the core, to represent the contrast between the central character and her experiences in the modern world.

Broken Sleep is available now on Amazon Prime and Vimeo.
